Google has told all of its North American employees to work from home amid fears of a new coronavirus outbreak spreading. According tomedia reports, Google has been 10 local time on the evening of 10 to all north American employees issued instructions to work from home. By that date, the number of confirmed cases of new coronavirus in the United States had risen to 808.
According to the report, Google sent a memo to employees before 5 p.m. EST on Tuesday (5 a.m. Wednesday, Wednesday) BST, informing them that they would be telecommuting at least until April 10. A Google spokesman later confirmed the policy.
Google’s aggressive home-office policy is one of the most widely adopted remote work policies adopted by the business community since the new virus first appeared. Google now employs about 100,000 people in North America.
Google’s decision comes as the new corona virus scare is sweeping the world, with 118,101 confirmed cases and more than 4,000 deaths worldwide.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down more than 2,000 points on Monday as a result of the new crown outbreak. In this environment, many communities across the United States are expected to close schools and enable telecommuting policies.
