Netflix this week renewed the third season of the sci-fi drama Lost Space, extending the show’s remake until 2021,media reported. The news, however, is mixed, as the third season will be the final of the show.
For those who are keeping a close eye on the reboot, the news is not entirely surprising. Executive producer and producer Zack Estrin says that from the start, they turned the story into a trilogy — with a clear beginning, middle and end.
The first season of Lost Space was suspended on April 13, 2018, and the second season aired on December 24, 2018. The TV series, adapted from the 1956 film of the same name, tells the story of the Robinsons colonizing the Alpha Galaxy in the constellation Of a half-man.
Although Lost in Space is coming to an end, Estrin’s partnership with Netflix is far from over, and it has been learned that the two sides have reached a multi-year agreement to produce several new plays exclusively on Netflix.
