Facebook’s chief operating officer(COO) Shirley Sandberg said Monday local time that social media giant Facebook is ready for misinformation about the new virus,media reported. “We are removing any harmful misinformation about the new corona virus,” Sandberg said in an interview with Bloomberg. “
She noted that her company is working with the World Health Organization (WHO) and local health authorities on the removal of such content, and that they are also working to provide good news to people.
As part of the WHO SafeHands challenge, Sandberg shared a video on the social networking platform of how to wash his hands properly with his fiance, Tom Bernthal, co-founder and CEO of strategy consulting firm Kelton Global.
In response, WHO Director General Tan Desai thanked The Sandbergs for their efforts to promote hand hygiene.
Sandberg’s comments coincide with the company’s announcement at the end of January. At the time, Facebook said it would work with third-party fact-checkers to limit the spread of fake posts discovered by its partners.
