Microsoft has released a number of new cumulative updates for older versions of Windows 10, including Windows 10 1809, also known as the October 2018 update. This update will not be released in Tuesday’s patch, so the focus is on non-security improvements, but it contains many welcome patches anyway. For example, the cumulative update KB4541331 addresses a long-standing issue that can cause blue screen dead errors when Windows 10 older versions go to Windows 10 1809.
In addition, this update comes with a series of fixes for the enterprise. Microsoft says it also includes compatibility improvements to enable smooth upgrades from older versions of Windows 10 to 1809 on more device configurations. There are no known issues with this new cumulative update, which increases the operating system build number to 17763.1131 after deployment. All improvements in this update will also be included in the next cumulative update for the Windows 10 release as part of the April patch. In accordance with Microsoft practice, the next patch will be available on Tuesday, April 14.
