What is the inspection process for the new Crown Pass-through Inspection Site in the United States?

According tomedia BGR reported that the new coronavirus is still rampant around the world, and some people with suspected symptoms want to be tested as soon as possible. Many U.S. states have established pass-through testing sites that provide patients with a safe way to test without endangering the health of others. But what does this detection process actually need to do? Lauren Petracca of the Charleston Post in South Carolina shot a video that allowed us to see the whole process for our own time.

As Petracca explained on Twitter, she began to develop flu-like symptoms a few days before she was tested. She was led to a pass-through test site by a local hospital and documented the entire process.

The video, which lasts only about two minutes, shows how the test was carried out. To obtain uncontaminated samples, testers must be “fully armed” and wear protective clothing and a transparent mask to require their person (in this case Petracca) to provide a nasopharyngeal swab sample. This will clear the airwayford to be tested.

It may be surprising that the inspector then inserts a small cotton swab upward into the nose. This is necessary in order to obtain a test sample of cells from the so-called nasopharyngeal region. The region has been identified by scientists as the main site for the virus to take root and is an ideal place to test for infection.

Wipe your nostrils for only a few seconds, but this is clearly not a pleasant feeling. From Petracca’s response, we can imagine that this is uncomfortable, but it is critical that the patient remains stable during sample collection to make the test as accurate as possible.

After collecting the samples, the staff sputceates the swab into the test tube, seals it, and then puts the patient’s name on the test tube before passing it on to others for testing. Depending on the test used, the results may take 24 hours to a few days. New tests being developed are expected to produce results within 90 minutes and will eventually help track the spread of the virus more quickly.
