Some features in the Windows 10 system are available to both consumers and business users. Therefore, these features are not normally available to users and are disabled by default. And such features are often optional, allowing users to decide whether to enable them based on their usage needs.
Recently, Microsoft quietly confirmed that some popular and non-popular features will become “optional features” in the upcoming Windows 10 Version 2004 (20H1) feature update. These optional features can be uninstalled to reduce Reserved Storage capacity and avoid confusion when using Windows 10.
Version 2004 of Windows 10 makes the following features optional, and you can uninstall/disable them from the Settings app:
PowerShell (ISE) – Windows PowerShell Integrated ScriptIng Environment
Print Management Console: Used to enable the management of printers, printer drivers, and printer servers.
Step Recorder in Windows 7, tool with keylogger, screen capture and annotation capabilities
Windows Fax and Scan: Fax and Scan
If you don’t use these features on Windows 10, you can turn them on or off as needed, and they can be used by the Optional Features page in Settings. While Paint, NotePad, and WordPad are popular, these features are not useful to all users, as many people use third-party alternatives such as Paint.NET and Notepad.
