Mainstream mobile soC manufacturers have announced or released their integrated 5G baseband chips, including Qualcomm’s Dragon 7 Series, Huawei Kirin 990 5G, Samsung Exynos 980, MediaTek 5G SoC and so on. Media reported that MediaTek is scheduled to hold the MTK Technology Summit on November 26 to officially launch its first 5G SoC chip, model MT6885Z.
The MT6885 is based on tSMC’s 7nm process, and both the CPU and GPU are equipped with the latest and strongest ARM public architecture, the Cortex A77-Mali-G77 GPU. The third generation AI engine, processor support for Sub 6GHz 5G band (NSA-SA), 80-megapixel camera, 4K 60-frame video capture, and more are also integrated.
Of course, the news is that in addition to the MT6885, MediaTek also has a mid-range SoC with integrated M70 5G baseband, MT6873. The large-core CPU swap pedith of the Cortex A76 architecture, with a 25% reduction in chip size compared to the 6885, is expected to cost $300 for a 5G phone.
It has been reported that the MediaTek 5G SoC at the terminal level of cooperation manufacturers include OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and so on.
