The new Surface Neo isn’t Microsoft’s only dual-screen device, media outlet Windows Latest reported. The company also announced a Surface phone called Surface Duo, which can run Google’s Android app and support Microsoft’s services directly from the Play Store.
Surface Duo was designed by the Surface team led by Panos Panay, and it seems to have great hardware, but there have been rumours that surface Duo devices will be equipped with a mid-core camera.
The Surface Duo, which competes with the Galaxy Fold and Mate X, may not be equipped with excellent camera modules, but Microsoft seems to be working on major software-related improvements. In addition to software-based improvements, Microsoft is committed to deep camera resource management. Microsoft says it plans to use 3D “3D” cameras to deliver higher performance than standard cameras. For example, a 2D camera relies on motion in a sensing scene to trigger activation, which can be solved with a 3D camera.
“3D imaging can correct many shortcomings of 2D images,” Microsoft said in the patent filing. However, traditional depth camera operating techniques tend to use a relatively large amount of resources. “
Deep cameras can also generate different types of frames, such as 2D frames, 3D frames or frames with relatively high and lower resolution, and frames with different field of view, Microsoft said. The company is exploring various types of depth cameras, such as flight time depth cameras, structured light depth cameras or stereo depth cameras.
