Google Messages is the preferred sMS app for many Android users around the world, though user feedback has been that the app has been plagued by serious errors. On Google Messages’ support forums, users said their text messages disappeared without any explanation.
The forum’s topic dates back to January 2019 at the earliest, and many users have complained about it this month. Users report seeing the wrong text message, information from one contact being incorrectly displayed from another contact, and the app crashing and losing all previous text messages.
Recommended solutions include restoring factory settings or switching to another SMS app, uninstalling the Google Messages app (pre-installed for pre-installation) via the Play Store, and clearing the app cache/storage.
While Moto G7 users have the most feedback, they are not limited to specific phone models. Other devices affected by the Google Messages error include the HTC One, Huawei P20 Series, LG G8s, Moto G5 Plus, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 3.
