Plans are all disrupted: Sony announces new release time

Sony has become the latest studio to announce major changes to its film distribution plans, according tomedia. Blockbusters such as “Mystery Seas,” “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and “Beatrabbit 2: Escape Plan” have all been delayed, making Kevin Hart’s “Fatherhood” the only major push-up film in Sony’s 2020 program.

But it looks like the third Spider-Man film in the Marvel cinematic universe doesn’t seem to be affected, with the sequel set to open on July 16, 2021. But Sony’s films, “Ghostbusters: The Afterlife,” which Sony had planned to release in July 2020, and Jared Leto’s “Dr. Mobias: The Night” have both been postponed until March next year.

Fatherhood – 23 October 2020 (originally scheduled for 15 January 2021)

Beater Rabbit 2: Escape Plan – 15 January 2021 (originally scheduled for 7 August 2020)

Ghostbusters: The Afterlife – 5 March 2021 (originally scheduled for 10 July 2020)

“Mobias: Dr. Dark Night” – 19 March 2021 (originally scheduled for 31 July 2020)

Mysterious Seas – October 8, 2021 (originally scheduled for 5 March 2021)

Unreleased Sony/Marvel Movies – TBD (originally scheduled for 8 October 2021)

Sony’s shift means the company will not open cinemas this summer.
