The traditional offline exhibition of The Scom 2020 Cologne may be canceled due to the new crown outbreak, but the German Game Industry Association is still hoping to provide interesting digital events for gamers in August,media reported. Cologne show organiser Koelnmesse and the German Game Industry Association said on Tuesday that Gamescom would not be delayed – “definitely in the form of at least digital ones from August 25tos to 29th.”
The German Game Industry Association will decide in mid-May whether traditional events can be held in the usual August. If the new corona outbreak is brought under control, Gamescom may continue.
“When we re-evaluate all Gamescom formats at the Cologne Fair in mid-May, our priority is to ensure the health of visitors,” said Oliver Frese, Managing Director of Cologne International Exhibitions.
“Gamescom and Koelnmesse have become digital pioneers in international trade fairs,” Frese continued. “Therefore, we also see the current new crown crisis as an opportunity to further implement the form of digital activity. Gamescom 2020 provides the perfect platform for this. “
