It is reported that these data can not be used to track the whereabouts of individual users, but can show a certain period of population movement patterns. Researchers can use the data to find a relationship between movement of people and the rate at which the virus is spreading in different countries and regions, and to understand the effectiveness of the city-blocking measures in European countries.
“We’re going to look at the movement of people within European cities and its impact on controlling the spread of the virus,” said Nick Ruktanonchai, an epidemiologist at the University of Southampton. (Author/Frost Leaf)
