This year Sony Xperia launched its new name: Xperia Plus Digital. Unlike other phone brands, Sony Xperia phones are not named after the usual formula. The Xperia 1, Xperia 5 and Xperia 10 series (Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus) are currently available, with Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus positioning mid-range, Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 positioning flagships.
Overall, the Xperia naming code is that the smaller the number, the higher the specification, the Xperia 5 and the Xperia 1 are both Dragon 855 models, but the Xperia 1 uses a 4K OLED screen, Xperia 5 is FHD plus.
So the question arises, what will be the name of the next generation of Xperia flagships? On Nov. 11, according to media reports, Sony’s next-generation flagship may be named Xperia 3. Considering that the naming scheme does not conform to the above naming rules, its authenticity has yet to be confirmed.
As is customary, Sony will launch the next-generation Xperia flagship at the MWC2020, which features the Dragon 865 flagship platform with little suspense and the possibility of supporting 5G.
Of course, given that the naming of Sony’s flagship products has been changing all the time: from the Xperia Z series to the XZ series to today’s digital series, we’ll see if the next generation of flagships is named Xperia 3.
