Google is testing the controversial new extension, Manifest V3, with its beta Chrome Canary. In the name of security, privacy, and performance, Manifest v3 limits advertising and content blocking. Manifest v3 replaces the webRequest API with the declarativeNetRequest API.
Allows setting pattern matching rules to detect requested traffic and take action, but Google sets a limit on the number of rules. Hard limits can severely affect the availability of advertising and content blocking extensions.
The latest version of Chrome Canary includes the declarativeNetRequest API, and Google says the Implementation of the Manifest v3 is far from complete.
