Swedish start-up Einride has released a new video showing two cars controlled using a remote remote control, media reported. The operator can be seen sitting in the cockpit of a computer game simulated, equipped with a surround view monitor to provide clear picture of the driving road, but also using elements similar to the Extreme Racing, Gran Turismo game racing route.
“Transport costs continue to grow at 2 to 3 per cent per year, while the average capacity utilization rate for any vehicle remains around 25 per cent,” said Einride CEO Robert Falck. By monitoring multiple AET vehicles with just one remote operator, we can significantly increase the cost efficiency of each vehicle in the fleet, not to mention significantly reduce emissions and improve the working environment of truck drivers. “
Einride eventually hopes to increase the ratio of vehicles to drivers, so that a single remote operator can safely manage up to 10 trucks. The video shows the operator switching between two trucks at the push of a button, but it’s clear that there’s still a long way to go to get there.
