Apple’s partner Foxconn will make ventilators in the U.S. to help fight the new coronavirus outbreak,media reported. Omar Ishrak, chief executive of Medtroni Healthcare, said Foxconn’s plant in Wisconsin would be used to make ventilators. Foxconn also confirmed the partnership in a statement On Wednesday, but did not say when or where it would produce ventilators.
Currently, there is a severe global shortage of ventilators needed to treat patients with severe Covid-19. Foxconn’s partnership with Medtronic involves the design and development of equipment. Isaac said the equipment will start production in the next four to six weeks.
Since February, Foxconn has started making masks in China to prevent the virus from spreading. In late March, sharp, a subsidiary, also began making masks in Japan.
