Today, Samsung announced that it will expand the A-Series in 2020 and launch six devices in 2020. These Galaxy A-Series phones cover a wide range, with the cheapest of them definitely entry-level devices, while the most expensive are between the mid-and high end. Samsung will also bring 5G support to the Galaxy A-Series for the first time this year.
The 2020 Galaxy A Series, starting with the Galaxy A01, is a low-cost smartphone with the necessary features. The phone features a 5.7-inch Infinty-V display with an output resolution of HD plus. It has a front-facing 5-megapixel camera and a rear dual-camera, consisting of a 13-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth camera. The battery capacity is 3000mAh, and while we don’t have any details about the CPU yet, we know it will be equipped with 16GB of storage and 2GB of memory, retailing for $109.99.
Mid-range products include the Galaxy A21, which uses a 6.5-inch HD-Infinity-O display that doesn’t change much from the A11, but one of the places where the A21 starts to distance itself from the first two phones is in the camera. Instead of dual or triple cameras, the A21’s back is quad, with a 16-megapixel main camera and backed by an ultra-wide angle, depth and macro lens. Other specs include a 4000mAh battery, 32GB of storage/3GB of memory, and support for 15W fast charging, priced at $249.99.
The Galaxy A51 is a dessert product in the 2020 Galaxy A-Series, which features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display that enhances resolution to FHD plus, and has a four-core rear camera array with a 48-megapixel master lens. The on-board storage capacity is 128GB, but can be extended through the phone’s microSD slot. The Galaxy A51 has 4GB of memory and 4000mAh batteries, retailing for $399.99.
In addition, the Galaxy A51 will be available in 5G. Samsung tells us that the 5G version of the A51 and LTE Version of the A51 is basically the same, the only major changes include memory capacity increase (A51 5G has 6GB of memory, LTE version only 4GB of memory) and larger battery capacity, 5G version of the battery capacity of 4500mAh, and LTE version of the battery capacity of 4000mAh. But beyond that, the main difference between the two phones is that the 5G feature and the A51 5G cost $499.99, which is $100 more than the standard Version of the A51.
The Galaxy A71 is undoubtedly the high-end engine in the 2020 A-Series, featuring a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus FHD Plus Infinity-O display and a four-camera rear camera with a main lens of 64 megapixels. The A71 supports 25W of fast charging, rather than the 15W fast charging supported by some phones in other series, and while the on-board storage capacity is up to 128GB, the phone does support a microSD card of up to 1TB. Coupled with 6GB of memory and 4500mAh battery, the $599.99 price tag makes consumers get a pretty good mid-range 5G phone.
