Amazon’s Whole Foods supermarket announces it will offer customers free disposable masks

Amazon’s Whole Foods supermarket said Thursday it will require all customers to wear masks in their stores to prevent the spread of COVID-19,media CNET reported. The company also said it would start offering free one-off masks to all customers who come to Whole Foods to shop at the supermarket next week.

Earlier this week, Amazon said it had supplied more than 100 million masks to its global network and Whole Foods supermarket stores, giving away all of the company’s Amazon employees, delivery service partners, seasonal employees and others. The home appliance giant says it requires everyone working in its facilities to wear a mask.

Amazon said it expects to spend more than $800 million on COVID-19 safety measures in the first half of 2020 by buying items such as masks, thermometers, hand disinfectants and gloves. In addition, the company said it will continue to evaluate how best to support their teams and communities, and will continue to introduce measures to protect everyone’s health and safety to help customers get what they need in these difficult times. Caring for employees who serve the community will remain Amazon’s number one priority.
