In the early hours of Friday morning local time, a group of thieves broke into a car store in Fairfax County, Virginia, and stole three Tesla cars. Police immediately went out and arrested one person after a violent car chase, two of whom are still at large.
According to NBC4 Washington and WTOP News, when police tried to intercept one of the stolen Tesla cars entering the interstate, a traffic accident caused them to flee, but one of the accomplices in the car was arrested with injuries.
Nbc4 reported that three Tesla cars that police reported were stolen had been recovered, including one that had been involved in a traffic accident on Leesburg Pike near Beltway and then abandoned and fled. Two other Tesla drivers continued to drive south on the highway and eventually fled near Highway 236, but a third suspect fled.
One of the Tesla thieves was arrested and lied about his age, trying to prove that he was a teenager to avoid punishment. It’s not clear how Tesla’s vehicles were stolen, but we have to imagine that Tesla is investigating.
