Tesla’s Shanghai Super plant is about to double as Tesla promises to make Model Y in China

A new drone video shows Tesla’s Shanghai super plant appearing to be about to double as it promises to make model Y in China, media reported. The Shanghai Super factory currently produces Model 3 cars, but still produces only just over 30 per cent of the local components, and other parts are still heavily dependent on other plants.

The carmaker is expected to expand the size of its Shanghai super plant to allow vertical integration of production, allowing a larger proportion of Chinese-made Model 3 parts to be produced locally.
