For Windows, macOS, and GNU/Linux platforms, Mozilla today released an update to Firefox 76. The new version introduces a new Lockwise password feature and improves support for Zoom, as well as a small number of developer features.
Currently, users can go to Firefox.com for download, and existing users should also be able to get a new version by automatically upgrading. Mozilla announced that it will accelerate the frequency of Updates to Firefox browsers, reducing the previous 6-8 weeks to four weeks, and that Firefox employees and contributors are working remotely, even during the COVID-19 new coronavirus outbreak, without affecting the release schedule.
The new version introduced Lockwise, previously known as Firefox Lockbox, but the new version became smarter. The feature allows users to generate, manage, and protect account passwords for all streaming services, takeaways at grocery stores, and other passwords that helped during the new crown outbreak.
If you share your device with your family or roommate, Lockwise in Firefox 76 can now protect the passwordyou save. When you try to view or copy your password from the Login and Password page, you are prompted to enter your device’s account password.
Lockwise can now now generate secure passwords (at least 12 random letters, numbers, and symbols) for more sites. This means that when you create a new account or want to change your password, Lockwise now asks if you’d like to generate and save a new password.
Mozilla also noted that Audio Worklets “are being used by some of your favorite software programs.” The company specifically mentioned Zoom. During the popularity, Zoom became the most widely used video chat app. In short, you now join Zoom meetings directly in Firefox without having to download or install the Zoom client.
Next up is WebRender, Mozilla’s next-generation GPU-based 2D rendering engine, WebRender, which aims to make browsing feel faster and smoother by transferring the core graphics rendering process to the GPU. It is rolling out Firefox to more Windows users, especially the small screen on modern Intel laptops.
