YouTube hosts online graduation ceremony for Lady Gaga and others on June 6

On May 6th, youTube, a video-sharing site, announced that it would hold an online graduation event on June 6to to offer more programs to students whose graduation ceremonies have been canceled, according tomedia reports. YouTube has invited a number of celebrities to give speeches, including the Obamas and Google CEO Sandal Pichai. Other speakers included Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, South Korean pop star BTS and singer Lady Gaga.

As schools close due to the outbreak of the new crown, students and teachers are struggling to find ways to move campus life and activities online. Social media companies are also trying to get involved, with Tik Tok holding a week-long “prom” last month and Instagram planning to launch graduation stickers and voting.

Facebook also hosted star-studded graduations, with Oprah Winfrey, Awkwafina, Jennifer Garner and Lil Nass. Lil Nas X, Simone Biles and Miley Cyrus will address the ceremony.
