BEIJING, May 6 (UPI) — In an effort to boost sales in India’s largest overseas market, Xiaomi today launched a new e-commerce service in India that allows Indian consumers to easily browse electronic devices in nearby brick-and-mortar stores on their phones and place orders online, according tomedia reports. The new e-commerce service, called Mi Commerce, allows people to find nearby Xiaomi stores or other Xiaomi-partner stores to browse a range of products such as smartphones, TVs, smart lights and more online.
Then, if the user is interested in purchasing the selected item, the app immediately notifies the retail store and calls the user to confirm it. Xiaomi also said that after the order is confirmed, the store will send the goods and process the payment process.
In addition, Mi Commerce helps potential consumers stay social, avoid shopping in stores, and reduce the risk of contracting the new coronavirus.
A company spokesman said that, for the time being, Mi Commerce is only available in India.
Xiaomi also signed up for a WhatsApp business account, which is similar to Mi Commerce. Users can send messages to Xiaomi’s account on WhatsApp and have a conversation with the retail store.
