Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, said in an interview with Fox Business this morning (May 7, local time) that he was “optimistic” about the U.S. economy’s ability to recover from the effects of the global health crisis,media reported. In the long run, Mr. Williams said, he feels good about the economy, and he mentioned three of Apple’s recent new products in the interview.
“I’m optimistic. As you look around, you see the resilience that people have shown in this challenging time. When I saw the inside of Apple, I was very encouraged. Last quarter, despite the challenges, we launched three new products, and in the long run, I feel good about the economy. “
Williams also reiterated Apple CEO Cook’s recent remarks on apple supply chain earnings conference calls. Mr Williams said Apple had resolved supply chain issues, but he did not comment on the possible delay. Rumor has it that some new 2020 iPhone models may be released later than expected.
Mr. Williams also said Apple plans to open more retail stores in the coming weeks. Apple has now reopened 21 stores in South Korea, Austria and Australia.
