Tesla files for new battery patent Musk: “This battery is more important than it sounds”

May 8 (UPI) — Electric car maker Tesla has filed a patent for a new type of convex-free electrode battery called “Cell with a chip electrode battery,” according tomedia reports. In the new patent application, Tesla explains the current battery limitations, which increase costs and pose manufacturing challenges because the bumps are additional components.

The new patent describes a new way to build batteries that could just avoid the problem.

Elon Musk, Tesla’s chief executive, declared that the battery was “far more important than it sounds”.

Tesla leads the electric car industry, depending largely on its batteries or, more specifically, on the chemical composition of their batteries.

Last year, Jeff Dahn of Dalhousie University, Tesla’s battery research partner, and his team unveiled the results of a new battery.

The battery is a lithium-ion battery that uses a new generation of “single crystal” NMC 532 cathodes and a new advanced electrolyte that can travel 1 million miles (1.61 million kilometers) for electric vehicles.

Tesla is understood to be producing its own batteries. The company’s goal is to produce its own batteries using technology developed by its in-house team and new technology recently acquired by Maxwell.

Earlier, media reported that the company is working on its in-house mysterious Roadrunner project. The company has now tested a battery prototype under the project. The company believes it can mass produce the batteries and use them in electric cars and fixed energy storage products.
