Microsoft Retention Benefits: Win7/8.1 Can Still Be Upgraded to Win10 For Free

For Microsoft, some older versions of the system have been offered free upgrades to Windows 10, and they don’t seem to have closed. The original Free Upgrade offer for Windows 10 officially expired many years ago, but after their actual testing experience, it was revealed that the vulnerability to the free upgrade is still in effect, according tomedia Outlet Windows.

Specifically, Win users can download Microsoft’s official Media Creation Tool and select “Upgrade this PC now” (upgrade this pc now).

When the upgrade is complete and the device is connected to the Internet, a digital license for Windows 10 is activated. Users can verify activation status by going to Settings, Update and Security, and Activation.

It’s unclear why Microsoft still retains the free vulnerability of Win10, perhaps still dissatisfied with the 1 billion users that Win10 has reached three years late.

Based on previous third-party statistics, Windows 10’s share fell from 57.34 percent to 56 percent, and Windows 7’s market share fell from 26.3 percent to 25.59 percent.
