A study published in the American journal Sleep by researchers at Chongxin Women’s University in South Korea found that playing with mobile phones before bed affects mental health, and that people who delay their sleep because of playing with mobile phones are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety and insomnia. Playing with a mobile phone before bedated at night will keep people excited and have an impact on the quality of sleep. The researchers noted that activities such as watching friends’ circles or watching videos online before bedtime can lead to depression or anxiety, so they conducted studies to understand the effects of bedtime delays.
The study looked at 160 people between the ages of 20 and 30 who spent five times as much time playing their cell phone before bed time, an hour more than the average person played.
The results showed that long time-time mobile phone games before bedtime had a 20 percent increased risk of depression and a 14 percent increased risk of anxiety. Delaying bedtime increased the risk of insomnia by 41%, while the risk of losing sleep on your mobile phone before bed was 82%.
