James Damore, an engineer who was fired in 2017, sued his former employer, Google, in 2018, accusing the search giant of systematically discriminating against conservative white men. In a controversial internal memo, Damore criticized the company’s diversity strategy, arguing that gender differences are not necessarily the result of gender discrimination.
In the lawsuit, Damore and several other fired engineers accused Google of systematically punishing and firing employees who disagree with most views on corporate political themes such as diversity, bias sensitivity and social justice, and violating their legal rights.
Two years later, Damore filed a motion with three co-conspirators in Santa Clara, California, to withdraw the action.
Google signed the motion. The lawyer said his client was prohibited from talking outside of court documents.
