BEIJING, March 13 (Xinhua) — Tesla is fully restarting its lithium-ion battery “super factory” in Nevada, according to U.S. technology media The Verge. The report quoted An email to Tesla’s employees saying that employees at the plant had been notified of the resumption date and that workers who did not want to return to work during the outbreak would be taken unpaid leave and would therefore not be eligible for unemployment benefits.
Nevada has allowed some companies to reopen under protective measures, but it’s unclear whether Tesla’s plant is included.
Tesla on Monday restarted its auto assembly plant in Fremont, California, in violation of a local home quarantine order. The company’s CEO, Musk, has been a vocal opponent of the blockade aimed at controlling the outbreak, saying that if the local government wants to arrest anyone, then arrest him.
