Apple on Thursday updated its COVID-19 screening app to help people stay informed and take appropriate steps to limit the spread of the virus,media reported. This update includes updated recommendations for health care providers to match CDC guidelines and best practices for quarantine if people are already exposed to the COVID-19 virus.
The app’s update also adds new information for pregnant women and newborns. In addition, Apple has updated its COVID-19 website to provide the same new information to users who prefer to use the site.
Apple has partnered with the CDC, the White House Coronary Virus Working Group and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to create the COVID-19 app and website. In addition to the features presented Thursday, Apple’s tools also allow users to answer a series of questions about risk factors, recent exposures and symptoms to get CDC advice on what to do next.
This screening tool is intended for anyone 18 years of age or older in the United States. Data provided on the COVID-19 app and website are not shared with Apple, the CDC, or other government agencies.
