Boeing’s “loyalty aircraft”: combat drones built from AI

The long-awaited sequel to “Strong Spirit” has been delayed because of a new corona pneumonia outbreak, dashing fans’ hopes of seeing Tom Cruise soar in the sky in the near future, media reported. Fortunately, at least one of the aircraft is still flying. Earlier this month, Boeing Australia delivered the first of three prototype drones to the Royal Australian Air Force.

The aircraft, nicknamed the “Loyalty Aircraft,” is part of the Aircraft Teaming System, which relies heavily on artificial intelligence technology.

It is Boeing’s largest military investment outside the United States. The drone was designed using what Boeing calls the “digital twin” — actually an advanced 3D scan of the aircraft that can be used for testing.
