With 5G phones populist, the Android camp’s optional chips aren’t enough, Qualcomm’s chip for the mid-to-high-end flagship is only one SnapDragon 765G, and the chip’s performance is only as poor as it is. This afternoon, another chip maker, MediaTek, handed over its answers and officially released the New Product Sky820, the 800-series. MediaTek attaches great importance to the mid- to high-end 5G chip, and they have invited Lu Weibing, vice president of Xiaomi Group, as honorary product manager.
The chip has a 7nm process, has four cores plus four small cores, four 2.6GHz A76 cores, a small core of 4 2.0GHz A55 cores, and flash up to LPDDR4X 16GB. The single-core score is 7% higher than Qualcomm’s 765G and the multi-core 37% is arguably the strongest mid- to high-end 5G chip in terms of running points. The 5G baseband supports the 5G plus 5G dual-card dual-card and NSA/SA dual-mode networks, and features 5G UltraSave power-saving technology, which officially says consumes less power than the SnapDragon765G and has less latency than the SnapDragon765G.
On the GPU side, the Sky820 has a stand-alone AI processor and a flagship APU 3.0 architecture, with a run level of 300% of the SnapDragon 765G. This super AI calculation allows it to perform very well in both the camera and video capabilities. With advanced image processing technology, up to 80 megapixel cameras, real-time multiframe 4K HDR video, and 4K@30/60FPS video decoding, the Skyview 820 has a MiraVision picture engine, HDR 10 plus, and a maximum screen refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and up to 2520 x 1080PFHD plus resolution.
Now that Lu Weibing has been invited, MediaTek has officially announced that the Tianyi 820 will be the first of its 10X 5G in Redmi. They then announced the chip’s Rabbit Run Score, which was close to 410,000.
Apparently, the chip was a “targeted blow” to the standard SnapDragon 765G, which was weak. However, on paper, the Tianyi 820 is the most powerful chip in the middle and high end, but the specific performance depends on the subsequent equipment after the actual installation.
