According to a recent study by strategy Analytics, a data analytics firm, the iPad achieved a 4% market share growth and got 10.1 million units of shipments, taking advantage of a 4% decline in global tablet sales in the third quarter of 2019. Eric Smith, Director of Research Services for Connected Computing Devices at Strategy Analytics, says:
“Apple released its seventh-generation iPad in the third quarter of 2019 with keyboard support at the same price as previous models, which helped drive a 4% year-over-year increase in shipments.” The company’s larger earnings growth suggests that the iPad Pro portfolio is stronger than last year, as Apple’s average wholesale price is up 9 percent. ”
There is no doubt that the launch of the seventh generation iPad will help Apple’s tablet sales this quarter. Strategy analytics points out that Apple’s total iPad revenue increased by 8% this quarter, which is in line with the data in Apple’s quarterly financial report.
Interestingly, if iPad sales grew by only 4% in the quarter and sales grew by 8%, it also means that the higher-priced iPad Pro is being accepted by more consumers, which in part has driven the increase in iPad sales. In light of all the rumors, Apple is likely to launch a new generation of iPad Pros with three-camera systems next year.
