TUXEDO Computer is one of the few vendors focused on Linux notebooks, and this week it launched a model BA15 with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor, which it calls “the world’s first laptop with AMD-only, pre-installed Linux distributions.”
The BA15 excels in battery performance, with a 91.25Wh battery capacity that provides up to 25 hours of battery life in dedicated power-saving standby mode. “A 15.6-inch laptop can also last a long time in an instant, in a daily environment,” says TUXEDO Computer. Daily office (Internet, email, etc.) can reach 13 hours, 50% brightness playback of 1080P video can reach 10 hours. “
The notebook integrates the Radeon Vega 8 graphics card and comes in three different memory sizes, all samsung products, with a top version of 32GB of memory. The storage base model is available at 250GB and can be upgraded up to 2TB.
The 15.6-inch screen features Full HD resolution and 300nits brightness, while the keyboard features the iconic TUX Superkey with a white backlight. On the interface side, there is a USB 3.2 Type-C interface (not available as DisplayPort or charging), two USB 3.2 Type-A interfaces, a USB 2.0 Type-A interface, and HDMI, Ethernet, card reader and headphone jack slots.
TUXEDO Computer sells the BA15 with Ubuntu and TUXEO_OS, but there are several other options. The machine is currently available for booking on the TUXEDO website and will be assembled within 5-10 working days, with the relevant accessories to arrive on June 15, 2020.
