May 25, according tomedia reports, recently, the international market research institute IC Insights announced the first quarter of 2020 the world’s top ten semiconductor manufacturers sales rankings. Among them, Huawei HiSilicon ranked 10th, becoming the first mainland Chinese company to rank among the world’s top ten semiconductor suppliers.
According to a report by IC Insights, the top 10 semiconductor manufacturers are Intel (Us), Samsung (Korea), TSMC (Taiwan, China), Helix (South Korea), Mekong (US), Broadcom (US), Qualcomm (US), Texas Instruments (US), NVID (US), and Heath (China).
Six of the top 10 semiconductor manufacturers are U.S. companies, two are South Korean, and Taiwan and China have one each. Among them are two new companies on the list: Hess and Nvidia.
IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF THIS YEAR, TOTAL SALES OF THE WORLD’S TOP 10 SEMICONDUCTOR MAKERS ROSE 16% YEAR-ON-YEAR, THE IC INSIGHTS SAID. Nine of the top 10 companies had sales of at least $3 billion.
Heath is Huawei’s semiconductor design division, from which more than 90 percent of Huawei’s chip supply comes from the company. In the first quarter of this year, HiSilicon’ sales were close to $2.7 billion, up 54% from $1.735 billion a year earlier.
Heath also climbed from 15th place in the same period last year to 10th place, making it one of the top 10 semiconductor manufacturers in the first quarter of 2020.
In addition, the company has become an increasingly important customer of TSMC, accounting for 14 per cent of TSMC sales last year, compared with just 5 per cent in 2017.
