Most children are busy with other things when they are nine years old, but Belgian boy Laurent Simmons is not. He is the world’s youngest college graduate and is about to win the Guinness Book of World Records. Laurent Simmons started high school at the age of six and finished two years later. He seemed tired of the speed and was invited to a study at the Amsterdam Academic Medical Centre (AMC).
During the summer vacation, he traveled to the United States to attend special summer programs for gifted children at Stanford University and Fairfield University.
At the age of nine, Laurent Simmons began studying at Eindhoven Technical University. His professor claimed that Laurent was the smartest student he had ever taught. On top of that, he managed to complete all the studies and exams required for a bachelor’s degree in a year, rather than taking three years to get a bachelor’s degree, as his classmates did.
“People say that Laurent Simmons might be the new Einstein or Newton, who had an IQ of 145 at the age of six, and whose IQ must have improved, making him an “extraordinary genius,” ” his father told RTL Nieuws. Where will Laurent Simmons go for the next time has yet to be determined, but media reports say representatives from the American university will visit Eindhoven and meet with Laurent Simmons and may offer the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree.
