Apple is redesigning the leather rebate strap for the Apple Watch, possibly as soon as next month, according to leaked information shared on Reddit and 9to5Mac today, media reported. The updated stripes appear to have more different ridgelines that do not extend to the edges of the stripes, and even use different colors for some colors.
The redesigned version uses magnets to close rather than coil.
It’s unclear why Apple is redesigning its existing precortical straps, which are known to have been used since the first apple Watch was launched in 2015. But it seems that the newly designed straps can provide airperity and better water resistance.
Apple’s current leather strap only supports the 44mm Apple Watch, while the new exposed strap looks set to support both sizes. But there is also the possibility that leather rebate straps will continue to exist, and the latest revelations are something else Apple will be launching.
People who shared the photos on Reddit said the straps came from a local store in Vietnam, which revealed that they were experimental units for the next-generation Apple Watch. An intelligence source contacted by 9 to5mac provided a similar image and the source said Apple expects to unveil the new Apple Watch strap as soon as next month, perhaps at Apple’s WWDC.
Apple often updates the color of the Apple Watch strap at major launch esgouts, so it’s no surprise if the company introduces new straps and options this summer.
It’s unclear when the straps will be released or whether they were actually apple-designed or forged, so all you can do is have to be patient.
