On November 12-15, 2019, the Linux App Summit (LAS) 2019 Summit, co-hosted by GNOME and KDE, two of the world’s leading mainstream free software desktop environments, was successfully held in Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Yu Jie, Dr. Liu Xiaodong and Dr. Liu Min, the only invited team in Asia and the only invited Desktop Environment (UKUI) development team in the world, in addition to the sponsor (GNOME and KDE), attended the summit and delivered keynote speeches.
The LAS 2019 Summit, co-sponsored by GNOME and KDE and sponsored by the international operating system community such as Ubuntu, openSUSE and RedHat, aims to bring together the core developers of Linux applications to enhance the Linux user experience and accelerate the ecological development of Linux applications. The Kirin team was invited to the summit and a keynote presentation by Dr. Liu Xiaodong shared the contributions and insights of the Kirin development team in building the Linux application ecology. The Kirin team supports the development of the application ecosystem by building a UKUI desktop environment and encapsulating the SDK to facilitate application development, and secondly, actively lead or participate in open source application projects to make open source applications more stable, practical and easy to use, and finally, actively promote the migration of mainstream commercial software vendors to the Linux platform. and provide human support to form a virtuous circle.

With this summit, the Kirin team held in-depth exchanges and discussions with the core developers of Gnome and KDE on the direction of the Linux desktop environment and application ecology. They recognized the Kirin team’s contribution to the ecological construction of Linux applications and expressed strong interest and expectation of Kydroid’s expansion of the Linux application ecology.

The EuKirin open source desktop Linux operating system was created in 2013 and is one of the official derivative versions of Ubuntu. UKUI is a desktop environment developed by the EuKirin team to combine an international platform with localized applications. The EuKirin community hopes to share the Kirin team’s contribution and experience to application ecology and open source on an international platform to promote more software vendors to attach importance to the development of Linux applications and join the Linux application ecological construction!
