Today Jason Ronald, project manager at Xbox Series X, posted a new blog post on his website confirming that xbox Series X will be next to thousands of games from Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms when it debuts. Microsoft says the down-compatible game will run on the Xbox Series X, with the full power of the CPU, GPU and SSD.
No boost mode, no downband, and full support for xbox Series X for every down-compatible game. This means that all games will run at the peak performance originally designed, performing many times more than the game saw on the original release platform, resulting in higher, more stable frame rates and renderingats at the highest resolution and visual quality.
For an introduction to the XSX host article, the key points are as follows:
· Starting with Halo: Infinity, Xbox Game Studios’ 15 studio teams are working to create the largest and best-experienced Xbox exclusive lineup to date. You’ll soon be showing you a lot of new games that are being built for XSX
Players’ games and series, progress, achievements, friends can be cross-generational, hardware and peripherals will also provide support
Thousands of games are already running on XSX through more than 100,000 hours of testing
Every down-to-down compatible game will get full xSX support, no boost and downfrequency, HDR reconstruction technology can automatically add HDR effects, and even provide HDR support for Xbox 360 and first-generation Xbox games, the new fast wake-up feature will also support down-compatible games
· Technology such as Heutchy method enables games to render in 4K resolution, bringing these classic games to modern standards, and even doubling the frame rate of some games from 30fps/60fps to 60/120fps, providing players with a better gaming experience than ever before
The original website is as follows:
The game has left an indelible mark on all of us. Whether it’s we playing heroes to experience epic stories and worldviews, or the intense competition and the joy of victory. The game brings us together through one achievement in the game by a global group of players.
Today, thousands of developers around the world are creating new generation games that are full of innovation and change, many of which can only be achieved through the strong performance and innovative features of Xbox Series X. Starting with Halo: Infinity, our 15 Xbox game studio teams, owned by Xbox Game Studios, are working to create the largest and best-experienced Xbox exclusive lineup to date. We’re excited about the many new games we’re building for Xbox Series X.
Keep your game journey
As gamers, we also know how important it is to maintain and respect our gaming experience. Whether it’s your favorite game and series, your progress and achievements, or the friendships you build through the game, you should cross the line between generations of games. Not only that, but your favorite game accessories and peripherals should continue your journey with you.
Our goal has always been to enable gamers to play the best versions of Xbox across four generations when Xbox Series X is released. These critical principles have had a profound impact on many of our design decisions from day one, as this journey began with the creation of the strongest and most compatible Xbox console ever.
Our exploration of higher compatibility began with the 2015 E3 announcement of down-to-date compatibility for Xbox 360 games. I vividly remember the magical first time I ran one of my favorite Xbox 360 games on Xbox One, Final Fantasy XIII, and immediately after entering the game I was back to where I stopped playing a few years ago, as if there had never been a blank space in the middle. I was immediately brought back to that period and all the good memories that came through the game. This experience, energy and passion from the players still inspires us today.
With a lot of hard work, technological innovation, and collaboration with industry-leading creators, we’ve not only been able to bring more than 500 Xbox 360 games to Xbox One, but we’ve also been able to go back a long way and restore some of the classic series that we love most to our players from the first Xbox. The team that is working on compatibility for Xbox Series X is the one that brought classic games to Xbox One in innovative ways.
With the generational change of basic systems and chip architectures, there are huge technical challenges to maintaining compatibility. Developers highly optimize the game based on the unique features and performance of the console to provide the best experience for the player. To make the Xbox Series X our most compatible console requires significant innovations in custom processor design, as well as unique designs for the core Xbox operating system and hypervisor spree of the new generation platform.
With more than 100,000 hours of game testing, thousands of games are already running on Xbox Series X, whether it’s a hit with big work to a classic popular with fans of the series. Many in our team play every day with Xbox Series X as their primary console, while seamlessly switching between different generations of games. When Xbox Series X meets with a wide range of players, the team will complete more than 200,000 hours of hard work to make sure your game library is ready to join immediately.
Xbox Series X Makes Games More Fun
Not only can players run all the games from previous generations with Xbox Series X, they should also perform better than ever. The down-compatible game will run on the Xbox Series X, with the full power of the CPU, GPU, and SSD. No boost mode, no downband, and full support for every down-compatible game will be available on Xbox Series X. This means that all games will run at the peak performance originally designed, performing many times more than the game saw on the original release platform, resulting in higher, more stable frame rates and renderingats at the highest resolution and visual quality. The Xbox Fast Architecture, powered by the strong performance of our custom NVME SSD, significantly reduces the load time of down-compatible works. When I run through my personal game collection as part of our in-house testing, these amazing classic pre-generational games are great on Xbox Series X.
The Xbox team isn’t content to just rely on increased hardware performance to improve your gaming experience. We’ve developed new platform-level features to ensure that all of your gaming experiences are constantly improving. Xbox Series X partnered with the Xbox Advanced Technology Group to provide new and innovative HDR rebuild technology that enables the platform to automatically add HDR support to games. Because this technology is handled by the platform itself, it allows us to enable HDR without compromising game performance, and we can apply it to Xbox 360 and first-generation Xbox games that were developed nearly 20 years ago and have not yet introduced HDR technology.
In addition, the new Quick Wake feature is not only available for new games, but also for downward-compatible works. Quick Wake allows players to quickly get back to where they left the game, switching quickly between multiple game pieces, ensuring that players can return to the game in an instant. All of these advances are platform-level achievements that don’t require additional work from game developers.
In addition to retaining the gaming experience of our loyal fans, we also allow a new generation of gamers to play and enjoy timeless game classics as a way to pay tribute to the classic games and their developers.
Starting with the Xbox One X, the compatibility team has developed new and innovative features that can be used in a carefully selected lineup of classic games that are enhanced by the time they come out. Technology such as Our own research and development of Heutchy method enables games to render at up to 4K resolutions, or to apply anisotropy filtering to improve final image quality, bringing these classic games to modern standards and providing players with a better gaming experience than ever before.
With all the extra features and advancements of Xbox Series X, the Compatibility team now has a truly new capability to innovate and push the limits of game retention and enhancement. The compatibility team invented a new technology that allows more works to run at higher resolution and image quality while still respecting the original creator’s artistic intent and vision. We are also developing new and innovative categories, including doubling the frame rate of a range of classic games, from 30 fps to 60 fps or 60 fps to 120 fps.
Our team will continue to hear community feedback on other game pieces that you would like to add to the compatibility program. Recreating classic games from history often presents complex technical and licensing challenges, but the team is committed to continuing to preserve and pass on our collective gaming experience to the best of our ability.
As the Xbox Series X is coming to market, we’ll be sharing more news.
