Following the RX 5700 series, AMD recently launched its second wave of 7nm Navi graphics cards, the Radeon RX 5500M/5300M series, which is for mobile platforms. After Apple released the 16-inch Macbook Pro yesterday, AMD unlocked a new wave of 7nm graphics cards, the Radeon Pro 5500M and the Radeon Pro 5300M.
The Radeon Pro 5500M and the Radeon Pro 5300M are more Pro than the previous mobile version, mainly for the professional market, but the specs are more powerful than the Radeon 5500M and the Radeon 5300M, apparently because Apple faces a bigger face. Both GPUs are more like custom-made for Apple.
Specifically, the Radeon Pro 5500M is directly a full version of 24 CU units, 1536 stream processors with frequencies up to 1300MHz, with 8GB GDDR6 memory, rate 12Gbps, bandwidth 192GB/s, bit width 128bit, TGP power consumption (Total Graphics Power, full power consumption card, not TDP thermal power consumption) 50W, floating point up to 4PC.
The Radeon Pro 5300M is slightly lower in size, with 20 cuunits, 1280 stream processors, frequency up to 1250MHz, with 4GB GDDR6 memory, 12Gbps rate, 192GB/s bandwidth, TGP power consumption 50W, floating-point performance 3.2TFLOPLOPS.
However, compared to the RX 5500M graphics card, the Radeon Pro 5500M has more CU units, but the frequency is lower, the former is oversized 1645MHz, resulting in floating-point performance of up to 4.6TFLOPS, 224GB/s bandwidth is also higher, the cost is 85W TGP power consumption.
The Radeon Pro 5300M is then a bit more than the RX 5300M, which is a 22-group CU unit with a frequency of 1445MHz, but the maximum 3GB GDDR6 memory, bandwidth is only 168GB/s, and performance is 4.07TFLOPS, which is higher than the Radeon Pro 5500M.
Overall, the Radeon Pro 5500M and the Radeon Pro 5300M ARE essentially customized to Apple, with the overall goal of increasing the memory capacity, but reducing the core frequency and the memory frequency, which significantly reduces power consumption.
It’s not surprising that the RX 5000 series has so many versions, the key is to look at the desktop version of the RX 5500 series, at least three sets of configurations – 20 sets of CU, 22 sets of CU and full version of 24 sets of CU, 24 sets of CU version should be RX 5500 XT, 22 sets of RX 5500, which was previously released, 20 groups of uncertainty will be used on the desktop version, if there is, estimated to be the true fragrance version, the price is low, the performance loss is not big, the price has dropped significantly.
