This year’s International Photography Awards (IPA) One-Shot competition focuses on how to convey the concept of sport in a single frame, media New Atlas reported. An incredible series of photographs shows the wonders of humans, animals and machines in different states of motion.
“The concept of movement, change and evolution is a great concept to explore through photography,” says Hossein Farmani, founder of IPA. “It’s fascinating to see how photographers of all levels capture the concept in many forms — universal, abstract, human, robotic, human and machine. “
IPA’s One-Shot competition stands out from its big annual competitions. The annual One-Shot competition is designed to allow professional and amateur photographers to create a work with a theme as inspiration. In the past, the competition asked to be filmed with the themes of “home,” “city” and “climate change.” This year’s “Sports” theme highlights how the photographer conveys the feeling of movement with a concise image.
This year’s award was won by Canadian photographer Anne Mason-Hoerter, whose composite photographs of her wild carrot plants are impressive. Mason-Hoerter’s photography technique is to tear apart a plant, scan different components, and then combine these elements with the whole of the plants photographed by a digital camera to create compositions that cannot be captured in the wild. Her final award-winning work took more than a month to complete, combining more than 50 different images and elements designed to show the plants’ movements at night.
During the competition, a group with technology and machines as the theme showed a series of wonderful artificial objects. For example, the world’s fastest cyclist is shown speeding in the air, while another shot shows the powerful movement of the helicopter’s rotors with a wonderful water pattern.
“Even though the whole planet seems to have been almost stagnant, through these images we see life continuing, life moving forward. Farmani said. “Congratulations to all the talented photographers who participated in this event. “
Other highlights include animal hunting, basketball players flying baskets, rocketlifts and so on.
