Chrome will allow users to download edited PDF copies

Many people like to use Chrome to view or edit PDF documents, but these edited content has so far not been saved through Chrome, and people can only download the original PDF version that has not been modified. Of course, there’s also a way to borrow Chrome’s print feature and save the edited version as a PDF. However, this is not the best user experience, and Google has already addressed this issue.

Chrome Story recently discovered a code change request for a UI change that will allow users to choose to download an edited or original version of a PDF file.

PDF Viewer: Add UI to download edited PDFs

Add an action menu that provides the option to download the original or edited PDF

Show menus only when editing and enabling the SaveEdPDFForm feature

On the bug report page about this new feature, the developer provides a screenshot:

As for the requested content in the bug report, it means that the feature should not display the option to download the edited version until the PDF text is editable and edited;

The new feature is likely to start in the upcoming Google Chrome Canary release, with a stable version waiting a few more months.
