A new iOS camera app has been released, and unlike other photo apps, it is designed to hide the subject of photos rather than highlight them, media reported. The app, called CameraAnonymous, protects people in videos or photos by blurring or hiding their faces, and removes them all if necessary.
Sometimes, people can hide the person being photographed for a certain purpose so that they are not recognized by facial recognition technology.
Anonymous Camera is a free app that, in addition to the one mentioned above, can remove it completely from the subject’s body in the event of an identifier such as a tattoo. The app is free to download, but it also offers a $2 Pro, which can record videos for free.
The app uses machine learning and facial recognition to identify topics and then hide or blur them, but it’s worth noting that the app doesn’t handle a large group of people. Since detection and anonymization are both on-premises on the device, potential cloud-related security issues are avoided.
The app also supports split-screen recording, which allows the host’s face to be exposed while hiding the subject of an interview. The app is currently available on iOS, and it’s unclear whether android will be available.
