On November 14, 2019, China Mobile launched the Internet of Things eSIM chip — OneChip at the Guangzhou Global Partner Conference. The launch of the OneChip brand also marks China Mobile’s formal entry into the field of IoT chips, empowering customers in the industry and providing eSIM industry solutions.
During the conference, China Mobile exhibited all products of the OneChip brand, including communication chips, eSIM cards (C2X2, SE-SIM security chips, etc.), and the first fully self-developed eSIM chip CC191A, a total of more than 10 eSIM chip products. Commercial communication chip products include 2G, 4G, NB-IoT and other mainstream communication system, and support in-flight card writing, FOTA upgrade and other functions, while for the convenience of customer use, chip products are built-in OneNET platform SDK, reduce docking with the cloud platform work.
Among them, the C2X2 eSIM card is a specially designed for machine SIM card products, using DFN-8 packaging, fully equipped with the full functions of traditional SIM card. It has a small size, long life, not easy to remove, high safety, good stability, suitable for vibration and corrosion prevention environment and so on, in consumer electronics and industrial and other environments can be used, at the same time, the product has the function of in-flight card.
SE-SIM is an organic combination of SIM and SE on the chip side, thus ensuring that the service side provides the Internet of Things security server with security capability on the basis of the business server not being modified, forming the security system solution of China Mobile Internet of Things. With this solution, on the terminal side, the SIM card circuit need not be modified, only need to be replaced with SE-SIM, with sim card communication module for a simple software dimension upgrade, CPU side integration of a security capability of middleware, so through simple three-step, terminal security capabilities are built.
For a long time, China Mobile actively laid out the Internet of Things industry, the business covers the whole industry chain, and in 2015 officially entered the chip field. Through nearly 5 years of chip research and development and market exploration, China Mobile has initially completed the product line layout, and established a professional chip FAE and product delivery team. With eSIM chip products, China Mobile is committed to becoming the most professional eSIM IoT solution provider in China, empowering more industry partners.
