UK initiative to play games to overcome epidemic isolation loneliness supported by EA, Ubisoft and others

According tomedia reports, the British gaming industry is planning to hold an event this weekend called “Play and Talk” to overcome the loneliness caused by the outbreak isolation by playing games. More than 30 per cent of people in the UK feel lonely during the period of quarantine, according to a survey by the Office for National Statistics. Among 16-24 year olds, the proportion is nearly 51 percent.

The “Play and Talk” weekend event hopes that people can reduce loneliness by chatting online with friends and family. The British Interactive Entertainment Association said that during the outbreak, it observed people around the world starting to socialize through games and play with friends and family. In such a friendly and relaxed environment as the game, it’s easier to open up and it’s safe.

The “Play and Talk” campaign is supported by more than 50 gaming companies, including Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Sega, 2K, Wargaming, and more.

The basic idea of “Play and Talk” is to choose some family-style games, call your family or friends on Saturday or Sunday, and spend an hour together in the game, with the plan starting this weekend.
