According tomedia reports, it is now time for Mercedes to launch the 2021 AMG E 63 S sedan and wagon (Wagon). Both models feature AMG’s carefully crafted V6 AMG 4.0L twin-turbo engine for 603 horsepower and a 100-kilometer acceleration time of up to 3.3 seconds.
The above time is the E 63 S sedan’s result, and the station wagon version is 0.1 seconds longer. But both cars have a maximum speed of 180 mph. Torque is 627 lb-ft and speeds range from 2500 to 4500 rpm.
The V8, mounted on the dynamic engine stand, can adjust its stiffness based on comfort or sports driving priorities. Similarly, in comfortable mode, half of the cylinders can be automatically closed for a more economical cruise.
AMG pairs its engine with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission for multiple deceleration and dual clutch movements. It also has a dedicated “M” manual shift mode — as well as a temporary wading function — and a “gliding” function for more lazy driving. The AMG Performance 4MATIC Plus all-wheel drive is standard for both vehicles.
The electronically controlled rear axle limit differential is also standard, and is also equipped with speed-sensitive steering and three-stage adaptive damping and multi-chamber air suspension.
All of this is brought together in AMG DYNAMIC SELECT and AMG DYNAMICS modes. The former offers Slipper, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, Individual and RACE, while the latter offers Basic, Advanced, Pro and Master. Mercedes also offers the AMG Carbon Ceramic braking system as an option.
Whether it’s the sedan version or the station wagon version, the front face style is the same. The tail is a new, flatter tail light.
While Mercedes’ decision to name the 2021 E 450 4MATIC All-Terrain (all-terrain) model is understandable but somewhat embarrassing, the AMG E 63 S station wagon will be a “station wagon” rather than an “all-terrain” vehicle, a decision that is clearly welcome. In an effort to find potential cross-border consumers, the carmaker decided to add some coatings and rebrand the new E-Class sedan.
The car colors are three options: Graphite Grey (grey), Cirrus Metallic (silver) and designo Brilliant Blue magno (blue). As for the wheels, the 20-inch 5-spoke light alloy is standard, the color is highlight gray or matte black, and highlight black will be an optional option.
Inside the car, the AMG sports seats feature special Napa leather and custom logos. The steering wheel is a new AMG Performance model with a heating function as standard, plus a new capacitive button and a capacitor system that tracks the driver’s hands in adaptive cruise mode.
The 12.3-inch dual display comes as standard, and they are pre-equipped with the latest MBUX entertainment information system, which allows drivers to use Hey Mercedes for voice start-up. Custom AMG graphics are also standard.
As for the price, Mayside has not been released and is not expected to share the two cars until the market is nearing. It is reported that the two cars will land in the U.S. market by the end of 2020.
