AMD’s strongest mobile graphics card Radeon Pro 5600M first test: 50% faster, Apple exclusive

AMD recently released the new mobile graphics card Radeon Pro 5600M, tailored to Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro, AMD’s most powerful mobile graphics card to date, smaller than the PC platform’s Radeon RX 5600M/5700M. The Radeon Pro 5600M is based on the 7nm process, RDNA architecture of the Navi 12 core, which is also the first product based on this core.

There are 40 sets of computing units, 2560 flow processors, the core frequency of up to 1035MHz, FP32 floating point performance theory of up to about 5.3TFlops, at the same time in the Navi family for the first time with HBM2 high bandwidth memory, two total capacity of 8GB, equivalent frequency 1.54GHz, bit width 2048-bit, bandwidth of 394GB/s, thermal power design 50W0.

Max Tech preemptively tested the benchmark performance of the new card, and the comparison sat in AMD’s specially tailored for Apple:

Radeon Pro 5300M: For 16-inch MacBook Pro, 7nm Navi 14 core, 20 computing units, 1280 streamprocessors, core frequency up to 1250MHz, 128-bit 4GB GDDR6 memory, frequency 12GHz, bandwidth 192GB/s, 50W full-card power consumption.

Radeon Pro 5500M: Core iso, increased in size to 24 computing units, 1536 stream processors, core frequencies up to 1300MHz, with 8GB of memory.

Radeon Pro Vega 48:7nm Vega core, 48 computing units, 3072 stream processors, core frequency up to 1250MHz, 2048-bit 8GB HBM2 memory, frequency 1.57GHz, bandwidth 402GB/s.

Radeon Pro Vega 56: Core ion, increased to 56 computing units, 3584 stream processors, core frequencies up to 1350MHz, 16GB of memory.

In the GeekBench 5 Metal test, the 5600M was 50.1% faster than the 5500M, and only 12.9% worse than the desktop-grade Vega 48. This project is also exclusive to the Apple platform, optimized in place.

GFXBench Manhattan 3.1.1, Aztec Ruins 2K off-screen test, 5600M compared to 5500M is also 38.5%, 50%.

Unigine Heaven is closer to game performance, with the 5600M performing even brighter, leading by up to 48.1% compared to the 5500M, but even crushing Vega 48 and Vega 56, leading by 11.3% and 5.1%, respectively.

Unfortunately, such a strong graphics card, is Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro exclusive, at least in the short term will not come to the PC platform, and Apple also dare to ask for price, 5500M into 5600M need to increase the price of $800, the whole machine directly reached 3200 dollars!
