Microsoft debuted the classic adaptation of Age of Empire 4 at the weekend’s X019 conference, and for the series, which has been around for more than 20 years, the old powder must be curious to know what has changed and what’s original in Age of Empire 4. To this end, PCGamesN interviewed Adam Isgreen, creative director of the game, on X019.
Adam says players can expect a familiar and unfamiliar mix, such as the UK, which might be similar to the one played in Age of Empires 2, while Mongolia has overhauled it. The “unique unit and technological differences” of the Imperial Age tradition will be upgraded in Age of Empire 4.
“We’ve changed, but we really love the original Age of Empire 2 model. Thus, “Age of Empire 4″ also has four kinds of resources of wood, food, stone and money, all civilized universal. But is the use and order of each civilization consistent? This waits for the players to dig in-game on their own. ”
“We really liked the mechanisms of progress in the series, so we wrote in Age of Empires 4. Although no more eras have been added, I can reveal that some empires do not necessarily follow the rules of the four eras. In addition, in terms of the performance of the times, we also use a new performance method, is the current RTS game unprecedented. ”
Adam Isgreen concluded by stressing that these mechanisms are “the essence of Age of Empire that the team believes are worth continuing”, so players can fully expect a traditional gaming experience that has been polished by modern means. Of course, we can also see from the lines that some of the available civilizations will be innovative in terms of resource use, technology trees, and the mechanisms of the times to satisfy the appetites of players who crave something new.
Age of Empire4 will land on the PC (Steam and Windows Marketplace) platform and support Chinese, with no release yet.
