According to reports, the monkey named Kalua is a “mystery” pet, he will often feed the monkey wine. When the owner died, Kalua no longer had access to the drink he needed.

The monkey’s thirst for alcohol became more and more aggressive when it was not satisfied. He attacked indiscriminately, biting more than 250 people. One person died after being bitten by the primate.

Now, months after being captured and held in a zoo, Kalua’s aggressiveness towards humans remains striking. The local government has decided that rather than put it in the wild and risk it attackotherother animals or people, the monkey should be kept in isolation at the Camporeal Et-as zoo for the rest of his life.

“We isolated it for a few months and then moved it to a separate cage,” Mohd Nasir, a veterinarian at the zoo, told Gulf News. “It’s not changing, it’s still as aggressive as it used to be. It has been brought here for three years, but it has now been decided that it will be imprisoned here for the rest of his life. “Kalua is now basically serving a life sentence for his crimes.
