Google Photos ends $8/month print subscription trial service temporarily out of service

Back in February, Google Photos launched an online print service that can be subscribed to $8 a month, which sends users a monthly physical image taken from a photo gallery uploaded to the web. According to official messages sent to users this week, the trial period has ended and the service will no longer be available from June 30.

Google sent the following message to those who subscribed to the trial service:

Thank you for your valuable feedback over the past few months, which has provided us with a lot of useful information on how to develop this feature, and we hope to make this feature more widely available, so please continue to focus on future updates.

While we will end the trial program, we hope you will have some fun with the prints you receive during this time.

It’s unclear whether photo printing subscription services will return, especially as users around the world are reducing the need for photo printing to become scarcer during periods of less out-of-office and socializing.
